Optical Question

Ive set up my Denon amp with a firestick and bluray plugged in. Am thinking of plugging my Sky Q box through the Optical connection,
As the Misses doesnt like using the amp, i want to know would the sound still come out of the tv with out the amp powered on so she can use the tv as normal? TIA

You can always mute the amp. Yes, the sound will come out of the TV.

Can't you set it to pass through. My Q is connected to my Marantz which is left in standby and Q is passed through to the TV.

In settings - Video
Do you have HDMI setup
Then HDMI Pass through.
If so you can set it to pass through the SAT when the amp is in standby.
All you need to do is turn the TV on and the correct input for your AVR and then turn the SAT on.
