Oppo BDP-93EU - Official European player??

Is this an official EU release by Oppo, after the BDP-831 fiasco?

This looks like the official Oppo UK site (or the main distributor.........registrant's details bearing semblance to CRT projectors)

Also being sold here.

Oppo BDP-93EU: 3D Universal Platinum for europe

The Blu-ray 3D Oppo Digital BDP-93 presented in this article will land on the market earlier than planned in France under the reference BDP-93EU. This is a European version which supports the Blu-ray region B, but it is very likely that a rezoning kit is available soon (unofficial).

Indeed, we have learned through our partner Universe HighTech which already offers the Oppo BDP-93EU pre-order at 649 euro (for release in December) that the European version was planned. We have had confirmation from several details, such as recess support Blu-ray 3D, the presence of 2 HDMI outputs for separate audio streams HD 3D (to take advantage of HDMI 1.3 amp DTS-HD/TrueHD on the BD3D), an eSATA port for connecting peripherals, Wi-Fi and integrated management systems NTFS and FAT32 file via USB.

As a reminder, this plate 3D is universal. It reads DVD-A, DVD, CD, SACD, Blu-ray 2D and 3D access media stored on your PC (UPnP), reads the media via USB support for MKV (among others). A web portal allows you to enjoy more online services and games, but we hope that Network will be more interesting than before.

There was also talk of a new scaler Marvell (the Kyoto G2) with Qdeo processing (there was even talk of a marriage or a hesitation between one and another with the Anchor Bay ABT2015), but Currently the information remain secret from the Oppo Digital. We expect more details soon, including the new video chip, but also on the analog circuit as soon as Oppo Digital has given its green for the disclosure of specific characteristics ...

His target price is 699 euros, available in December 2010. More details soon ...

IIRC it is CRT, Oppo wanted CRT to be the main European distributer as such they had to only supply Oppo products. Still means you can get Oppo products via the great CRT service.

It does look like its going to be a great player.

Well, if that is correct, it's great news!! Oppo have failed miserably in their last attempt to launch a player in Europe. CRT Projectors at least has a good track record of selling Oppo players & providing reliable after sales service. It's more likely to succeed this time around.

I have been using OPPO BDP-83 for quite some time and this machine plays blue ray disk and DVDs wonderfully. Apart from that you will also find this machine when used as a CD player the sound it produces is comparable to high ended CD players.

I hope the new version will out perform the old model.

Coming soon! Just how soon is soon?

It's been "coming soon" for well over a month now

At this rate I might just have to go for a BDP-LX54 instead, although there's no word on a date for that either, just 'December'
