bigboss:I'm trying my best to check the facts. When I type www.oppo.com, a chinese website opens, with Oppo phones (Oppo is a US based company, right?). Where is the Oppo English website with all these products?

No, Oppo is a Chinese company. The US operation, Oppo Digital, Inc., is a division of the parent company.

Gosh! I never knew this!! Thanks for the info!! Even oppodigital.com doesn't mention its Chinese connection. This is what they say in the 'About us' section:

About Us

Based in the heart of Silicon Valley, OPPO Digital designs and markets high quality digital electronics that deliver style, performance, innovation, and value to A/V enthusiasts and savvy consumers alike. The company's attention to core product performance and strong customer focus distinguishes it from traditional consumer-electronics brands.

With products that speak for themselves and relying on word-of-mouth, OPPO Digital does not have any dedicated Marketing and Sales personnel. We have spent most of all energy on product design and customer service.

Not that I can see how it being Chinese matters

No, it's just that Oppo understates itself. It's bigger than what it actually projects. Being Chinese is not a disadvantage anymore. Almost everything is made in China today.

How many people actually know the Oppo (except who visit the forums & are a little more inquisitive), as compared to a Samsung or a Panasonic? It has such an excellent R&D to develop this player. Oppo's Chinese website has so many interesting products. If only it was as ambitious & as aggressive as Samsung.........
