I am also the owner of Onkyo TX 8050 and reviewed it at what hifi forum couple weeks ago.

As I have mentioned then Wide adjustment range for Treble and bass makes it easy to fine tune sound to your preference and I don’t think you will find it bright at all. Solid bass. It drives my B&W 685s and B&W 608 sub nicely. At one stage I was even considering to disconnect the sub as onkyo squeezes a lot of bass from 685s.

In addition, streamed Hi res FLAC files sounded so much better than previously owned squeezebox touch pared with Denon RBD X-1000. Navigation is not that convenient compared with squeezebox though. Onkyo has no HDMI output for video so I could not connect it to my bravia. There is only component video output which becoming extinct in new smart TVs . Therefore to find your files you navigate on two row onkyo’s screen.

Overall Very pleased with performance.

I have both, Onkyo TX-NR509 and this TX-8050, but this one is for all my serious audio listeneing, all my CDs ,MP3 and now FLAC files. I bought this Amp for using surrround back pre outs from TX-NR509 to TX-8050 for surrround back. cause only going from 5.1 to 7.1.

But when I bought it I also won Jamo s-426 in draw with Wharfdale vardus 10 sub woofer , but sometime for listening classical i use Bose 301 , and hosetly , sound is clear with every detail.

I am currentlu using Onkyo apps on Ipod touch instead of remote control. Cuase this provide more options when scrolling through DLNA or Internet radio.

I prefere to listen music on TX-8050 over my TX-NR509.
