hi, i am looking for a good bedroom system , i was interested in the denon dm37 which seems like a good bet. however i have noticed the onkyo cr725 seems to have gone down in price while the dm37 has gone up. i cant find any reviews on the 725 can anyone tell me how it sounds ?

many thanks.

pretty darn good. Certainly recommend it - I had picked it over DM37.

I think I am the only one here that actually owned one. It sounds very good - the soundstage, the detail, the bass. It also boasts some decent features - serious power supply, gold connectors and banana plugs, etc. But make sure to get only the unit and buy separate speakers (Tannoy Custom F1s, Whaferdale 9.1s, MA BR1s or BR2s, etc)

Plus it's 50wpc, which is about twice that of other systems in it's curent price bracket.

******, paid £300 for mine, it was in a proper shop though. I would've felt bad arranging a demo only to order it on line.ÿ

I do love it though, the Denon's very nice with the right speakers but the Onkyo was a step up in my opinion. The optical input and extra line inputs also swung it for me.ÿ

Looks like a good unit. A shame they got rid of the optical input on the 525.

Anyone using this on the 725? I'm thinking it would be by far the best option for connecting a macbook compared to a comparable all-in-one with just aux inputs.

I'm using it with my Airport Express, I also tried it between the optical out on my PVR and the 725 but preferred the sound from the Airport. The treble's nice and detailed but it perhaps lacks a little warmth compared to the same components connected via line inputs.ÿ

I'm wondering whether a better quality optical cable might help that as I'm currently using a cheap old one I used to use with my MD walkman.
