Onkyo 605 Onkyo 505 Whats the difference?

This is all new to me,can someone tell me the difference between these two amps?is one more detailed than the other or is it a case of one has more power?still looking for an amp purely for surround sound! Not music any help would be gratefull.Chris C

The 605 has more power and all-round ability, plus can handle all the new HD Audio formats - whereas the 505 'only' handles the regular flavours of Dolby Digital, DTS etc.

the onkyo sr 605 will support all formats up to DTS HD MASTER AUDIO...I just got mine last week and the kef 3005se speaker package ..best money i have spent .

I dont believe the 505 supports the new format as above
