Olive 4 HD question (External HD)

I've read that the Olive 4HD doesn't show artwork from albums from NAS-drives.

What about external HD-drives? (USB)

I always have been thinking buying the Olive 4HD one day, but 2TB isn't that much if you're into high-resolution music, and I want my whole collection (cd-rips + music downloads) in one place.

Any new Olive-models TBA soon with larger HD-capacity?

Be a little careful as Olive have had their QC problems......also check out Linn, Naim and Cyrus.

I want a player with at least 2TB internal storage.

In a perfect world I would buy the Aurender, but I don't have the budget for that one.

Seems that many of the early Olive-bugs are now solved.

At least you are going in with your eyes open.

For me, the Linn DS is the best sounding, but the storage isn't internal.

Maybe I will just try to get a quiet pc. Saw a netbook with SSD-harddrive only.

Can you use the Linn DS without network? Can I add an External HD to the Linn and control everything with an iPad (app - browsing through album-artwork).

Computers and networks are not my thing, but I'll give you my understanding.

When I installed mine, Linn recommended it to be hard-wired, but they are adding constant features, so I don't know what's available now, but this crowd are a mine of info on all things streaming (including Linn): https://www.ripcaster.co.uk/?gclid=CLWF3Ofo7q8CFUdItAodwSlLzQ

Linn also have a lot of info:
http://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/FAQs
http://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/DS_Network_Setup

They work from a NAS (something like Qnap) and can be controlled by a variety of iThingys and PDAs.

A Sneaky can be got for around £850 and the Majik DS £1880

The Majik performs like a highend CDP.

I would stay clear of the olive hd, I've had one now nearly two years, and it's crashed most of the time, customer servise are no good, don't answer e mails. All my music is backed up on to a nas, but can't play it on anything else but olive, which is no good to me, as I'm asking for a refund, get the naim uniserv, it's not as flash looking, but it's British and will work. You will regret getting an olive 04 hd
