The NAD C660 broke.

It started a few weeks ago, when turning it on it would not switch on straight away.

Problem got worse so when it came on switched it to standby instead of off which worked fine.

But we must have had a power cut, its switched off and will not come back on when the power button is 'on'

Not sure if New parts are required or cleaning of contacts. (I have 2 cd's stuck in it)

Anyone know of a NAD repair/parts service in the Birmingham area - I've been googling all day with no joy.

Richer Sounds Birmingham no longer do repair....why now?.....why?

I had to drag the Marantz cd63 out of retirement. Anyone know of a reputable repair service in brum?

CD recorders are becoming rare and this is on of the better ones.

Any help will be appreciated.

Good luck with repairing a CDP these days. Might come cheaper getting a new one if you're out of warranty.

Found a shop in town recommended by Richersounds - though they wanted 40quid for them to just look at it. Parts not included but it's a price I'm willing to pay.
The player is special £500 when new and 'hard' recorders are becoming rare and it has served me well so I'll give them ago.

Now the wait.

Sevenoaks are the official NAD agent. My C326 BEE amp has just come back after requiring replacement parts and some mods.

Gotta say NAD do seem a bit unreliable, both my NAD amps have needed repairs.

For CD Recorders I like the Pioneer PDR-509 & PDR-609. I've got both and use them as DAC's as well as recorders, never missed a beat in 15 years.

If the worst comes to the worst and you can't get it fixed, I can recommend the Sony RCD-101 duel disc player/recorder.

Recently picked one up off the net, it makes top copies and no slouch of a player either.

Hope you can get it fixed to your satisfaction, but if not, and the sticking-point is finding a good player with a built-in burner, remember you can copy most CDs using just your computer. Not trying to patronize you (on this occasion lol); many people simply just don't know this!
