Sadly my Dad is no longer with us. It was always a bottle of Bells for him. I’m the Dad and Grandad now. Shlepped down to London yesterday for lunch on eldest at the Anchor & Hope nr Waterloo. Usual LNER shambles coming back, assuaged by the thought of watching the youngest’s gift; the BFI 4k release of Get Carter.

That’s cute @plastic penguin.

I wish I could think more laterally about gifts. Always route one for me: I got my dad the new Knopfler cd & a national trust book of countryside pub walks.
To me, it isn't important to have a Father's day gift. I know this sounds like 'Where's the sick bucket' but she is my gift. She doesn't dabble in anything illegal, smoke or rarely drinks; very level headed and considerate.

That's her in the middle when they first arrived in Verenna.

Isn’t it just the best when you see them settled and doing well👍 My eldest is a Literary Agt in Manhattan, in London for author meetings. Youngest is a snr teacher at a well known school in West London. Middle one is a hospice nurse in Leeds. 3 grandkids and a 4th due September. Blessed with all of them.

Indeed. Usually youngsters want beech holidays in Spain but that doesn't interest her. She prefers the quieter get-a-ways, lake Como is quite a mature destination for one's so young.

Como itself is worth a visit. Some super restaurants by the lake itself. Como/Bellagio etc all accessible by ferries which run like buses. Even Milano is reachable. We loved it.

Speaking of offspring and their significant life events, my son got married on Saturday. I could have done with lower temperatures as several of us were in wool-mix three piece suits, but it didn't stop it being one of the absolute best days of my life.
Congrats.

Thankfully, my daughter is very career-minded and not really interested in a deep and meaningful relationship.... yet.

Yep upwards of ten grand should be enough 🙂
Goodbye to a decent hi-fi 👍

Nephew attended his mate's wedding Saturday.....a £30,000 event.

Years ago, an ex work colleague gave me his camcorder to capture his wedding day.
'Perfect', 20 grand affair in a posh castle.
Next time I saw him they were divorced - doubt they'd even watched the video.

People spend way too much on that single day.
