I have just bought a Panasonic TX-P46G10B which will arrive next week and over the next few months will be looking at adding a surround sound system.

I'm completely new to all this so would welcome all the advice going please. I have read about the Panasonic SC-BT200 and the Panasonic SC-BTX70.....open to all ideas and would very much welcome your thoughts and experience.

Thanks

Dave

Hi I have an Onkyo 606 and Q Accoustics speaker set purchased online from Creative audion in Shropshire, really good service at a really good price, and more importantly a great set of products

If you want a simple 'plug n' play' all-in-one Blu-ray system, the Panasonic SC-BT200 is a great choice, although there are a couple of similar systems also on the way from Sony, I gather, which we hope to test soon.

Ultimately you'll get better performance from a separate Blu-ray player, dedicated surround amp and speakers, but it's a question of convenience vs performance. Which is more important to you?

Many Thanks, Razzler and Andy.... will look into the shrewsbury shop website and keep my eyes open for your reviews on the new products. At the moment plug and play is looking good, but as I become more knowledgeable on this subject then maybe sperates are the best way to go.

Thanks again, Guys, much appreciated.

I would go separates every day of the week. All-in-ones may look less intrusive and be a bit less hassle to set-up but separates win on quality virtually every time.

Try shopping around. Start with Richer Sounds. I got my first hi-fi and home cinema set-up from there. If you are buying an amp, blu-ray/dvd and speakers all at once most dealers will talk discounts. In fact I would imagine they all will.

Oh I and I must strongly recommend the home cinema centre in Edinburgh too. Very knowledgeable and not at all pushy.

I use a relatively cheap setup, the Onkyo TXSR-507 with the Jamo A102HCS5 speakers. The amp is really good. The 607 got 4 stars in its review, but I did not want to go up to that price. After a short discussion with some friends in the know I settled on the 507. As for the speakers, they got 5 stars, and were well within my budget. I got a bargain on Amazon for them too!

Good luck,
