I have finally rcvd the latest Sky HD EPG (Amstrad Box), It appears to have had an adverse affect on my picture quality (Panasonic Pz 85 42'). Have any other members had the same issue, if so any solutions?

Cheers Craig

Same here got mine today and the picture isn't affected at all.

I got home last night and as we sat down in the living room I said to the missus "have you noticed anything?", to which she replied "Yes, the picture's MUCH better!", she hadn't even spotted the new EPG!

Have to say I've not noticed any difference in the picture one way or the other myself but it certainly hasn't got any worse.

Thanks for the replies chaps, some of the functions aren't working either since the update, I've called for an engineer.

Cheers

matengawhat:what i have noticed is that the contrast settings work nowYep,the contrast adjustment bug has been fixed on Amstrad boxes with the new EPG.....

My contrast was fine before the update, however the front panel indicator won't switch off, and the pass code restrictions won't turn off either. I have to use the pass code for all movies pre 20:00, all settings have been tried on and off.

Hi Craig, I finally received my Sky HD EPG (Sky/Amstrad box) upgrade this week and both my son and I have noticed a deterioration of picture quality on normal def television (Pioneer Kuros 42" plasma).

Does anyone have any advice/ideas??

Cheers Kelvin

picture quality on my panasonic pz70 42 has also been down got new EPG a few days ago

My Amstrad's PQ has also suffered since the new EPG came along on Monday.

There's a definate loss of detail and a graininess that wasn't there before.

I have to say I'm gutted as I really love the PQ before.

Might be a common theme here as I also have a Panny plasma.

Rang Sky CS today, they were helpful but couldn't find a cure.

They suggested that I had an engineer come over.

pity sky recommend pannys all the time ``from panasonic``

got the old epg still

will get the new one next week see what happens

Sky does not 'recommend' Panasonic TVs - Panasonic pays Sky a lot of advertising revenue to sponsor the movie channels etc!

so why didnt the other companies take advantage of this ? or is it exclusive am sure sony was with them before

Yes, Sky and Sony were once 'technical partners'. That may still be the case. I also don't know the details of the Panasonic deal - that's something you'd need to ask Sky and Panasonic!

mmmm......

tvspec, it's not that difficult to understand, Panasonic either got to Sky before their competitors did or they offered more money than anyone else did, that's generally how sponsorship deals work.

The fact that some Sky customers who own Panasonic TVs might be experienceing reduced picture quality with the new EPG is not Panasonic's fault, the issue is not related to the make of TV.

mmmm......

dissapointing but am sure sony is a better upscaler than pannys they advertise (with standard def)

I have also noticed i big drop in PQ scince the new EPG was installed last monday. I also have an Amstrad box, but not a pany tv, I have a Sony x3500 40", and the picture quality before the upgrade was far superior. I like to watch a lot of sports, and enjoyed RUSH HD as this was one of the best for PQ as they use a high bit rate, but the picture has defo sufferd, and seems a lot softer and not as pin sharp as before. Is it me, or does HD seem to be going backwards not forwards as far as PQ. I know the BBC has had a lot of critiscism for dropping its bit rate for HD content. Is the industry in general suffering in the global recession, therefor having to reduce costs, resulting in poorer picture quality and services? or am i just being paranoid!
