New or Vintage?

Hi

I am looking to buy a new installation (speakers and amp).

For the amp I was looking to the Denon PMA-720ae. The price in Belgium is around 300€ (255£). The speakers I am looking for are the B&W 685's (600€ or 510£ per pair).

Today I found a 2nd hand amplifier on the web. It's a Rotel RA-980BX and it is sold for 225€ (190£). Would it be smart to buy the Rotel instead of the Denon? The Rotel was built in 1991 I think. It has 2x100 Watts and a damping factor(?) of 1000. The Denon has 2x85 Watts. Both have enough inputs for me.

What would be the best choice? I have a wide taste in music.

what year are we in now......2013, thats what? a 20+ year old amp for how much..... :O

Nielsdep they should be giving that amp away inside of a box of cereal and you are considering buying it?

Don't - look at your options for your budget and buy the newest and most powerful amp you can get for your money, a 20year old amp.....seriously?
