Having a look at upgrading some parts of my system and I'm now considering the Mission M33i fronts are due for a change. Had a lok at Monitor Audio BR5's or RS5's both of which are at the top end of my budget. I mainl use them to watch Blu ray and Sky HD.

Which would be better as a starting point for speaker upgrades including centre and rears?

Probably front three first. I know(see sig) that using a non-coherent centre is less than optimal so would try to change the front three. Rears aren't as important.

Never heard them so wouldn't like to comment. Try before you buy, take missions to dealers and do a direct comparison if possible.

Edit:- Just had a quick look at the missions. Carting floorstanders about isn't the easiest. Maybe hope someone on here has heard both and take a punt.

Im looking at doing the exact same thing as I have already got br1 and br2 rears and they sound better than the mission fronts but im not decided on changing yet

ok my new br5's and the brlcr just arrived and I can tell you even not run in they are a deffinate improvement over the missions. They give a more cohesiveimage better bass and more of a grip.

They are a smaller speaker but to me they look so much better and they seem better built.

Hi, thanks...glad to hear you're enjoying your new speakers.I have gone for a pair of Monitor Audio RS5 fronts and about to get a GS LCR centre. Will let you know Wednesday how they 'gel'.

I just looked at your signature and it was a

moment. Im loving the step up from the missions less muffled lets see how they run in. Its haard to tell on bass as my subdude came today as well and that seems to have worked magic with the sub.

Yeah, I know what you mean! The RS5's are physically smaller than the Mission M33i's but they sound much 'bigger', better more defined bass and a much more rounded sound! Can't wait to hear how much better the GS csntre is over the Mission...it's a £550 job so should be much better.

the cheaper than mission brlcr is much better so i think you are in for a treat. I needed to turn the sub down after the br5's came.

after some intensive listening to movies im hooked the subdude tamed the bass then the br5's came along it's tinker time for a week or 2. I did manually reset the fronts and centre with a spl meter and found that the centre stayed the same but the fl and fr were approx 2db quiter than the missions i will wait till the neighbours are out and do a fulol callibration but for now im really impressed. Good luck with your new centre you will enjoy.
