Hi,

Thank you for the suggestions. The cdp that is within my budget ($800-$1200) that I have access are as followed:

Marantz cd6005 $900, Rega Apollo r $1249, Cambridge audio 651c $780, Rotel Rcd-12 $679, NAD c546bee $700. Not much choices available and I'm leaning towards Rega which is top of my budget but my only concern is top loading. Second choice possible the marantz. The marantz sa8005 is over $2200. Too much for me.

The SA8005 initial UK rrp was £1000, or @ $aus 1950, the extra down to luxury goods tax and lack of competition. Was fortunate to visit Oz many times before retiring, including delightful Perth in the 70s and 90s - until we handed the route to Qantas. Doh. There was a huge contrast in prices between Singapore, UK and Oz in ascending order. Probably all changed now due to strength of Singapore$

On my older version of the Rega Apollo CDP - the tip of the lid flips open about 10 cms (4inches) above the top of the case, so IMO you are going to need at least 15cms gap between the top of the CDP case and the shelf above for easy access. Any less is doable but a bit fiddly.
