New 40 or 42 inch TV needed under £700

I'm after a new 40 or 42 inch TV which will be wall mounted. Budget up to £700. I see some good deals to be had on the Sony KDL40EX503U for around £550 but have always steered clear of LCDs in favour of Panasonic Plasmas. Will be mainly watching Sky HD and Blue Ray Films/Standard DVDs.
Only really considering Sony & Panasonic at the moment as my 2 preferref brands.
Is there a 42 inch Plasma i should compare the Sony LCD with or will the Sony be hard to beat?

How about a Panasonic 42" LED edge lit LCD such as the TX-L42E30, I've been eyeing one up at a well known, reputable high street store for £654.

Panasonic tx-p42gt20b 3D TV can be had for £679 online, thats where my money would go.

Google shopping FTW.

Or the TX-P42V20B is available for £588, if you can live without the 3D functionality of the GT20.

They both sound good. Not that bothered about 3D. Would they be a better option than the Sony LCD??

And where is the TX-P42V20B for £588 from? Assume that doesn't come with a 5 year guarantee?!
