Problem with PMC PRODIGY 1

That EQ switch needs to be set to RIAA. You also have that big rotary dial to the right.
Perhaps you need a phono preamp that offers more when it comes to low output MC cartridges, I didn't realise it was that basic.

You would think it would give more flexibility for 800 euros. It's one Whathifi recommendation that doesn't live up to expectations

"The Bad​

• The maximum MC gain of 63dB is barely sufficient for very low output MC cartridges of 0.2mV like my Lentek Entre. The additional 6dB provided by the balanced output is not relevant to most systems as many inputs will drop the balanced level by -6dB in order to match other unbalanced inputs.
• Low end cheap external switched mode power supply (12VDC @ 500mA).
• The single rail input voltage from the switched mode power supply is converted internally to dual rail using a DC to DC converter – basically another switched mode supply. The good news here is that it is so well designed it creates little to no noise. This one feature almost caused me to not buy this pre-amp as I intensley dislike all forms of switch mode power supplies, particularly when used in low level signal amplifiers. (Linear power supplies rule the roost here)

• MC Gain – 57dB or x707 – max gain 63dB or x1414

The MM figure is quiet acceptable, but the MC figure is too low for very low output (0.2mV) MC cartridges – see comments. "

That said your Hana ML outputs slightly more than the reviewers cartridge but this is why you may need to adjust your volume control so much.

Would i be better connecting it to the Vincent ph701, do you think this could be part of the tweeters problem

They have fantastic soundstage and imaging. The best part is they are very musical.

Yes, they drain the volume a little but if your amp has a clean current (your Vincent should have) it won't have an issue. They suit my amp beautifully. As I've not heard a Vincent amp before I couldn't predict how they would interact together.

The Ruicon 2 are purposeful little critters. I love them.

Just make sure you give a 24" from the back wall.

Well they're here,first impressions, wow,large for a bookshelf speaker .
Have set them up 36 cms from back wall with ever so slight toe in.
Beautifully made and love the little cloth as if I haven't enough special ones already ,my Acoustic Energy AE500's have same finish so well versed in the dust issue.
My initial findings were that they were a little non descript initially,but have now run them continuously through the night,and this morning I'm greeted with a different speaker.
Very musical ,excellent soundstage,and very tight bass.
I've got an SVS PB2000 PRO sub with 12inch woofer, but don't really need it on ,though it does go down extremely low when needed.
The mids are very clean and smooth and the highs crisp without being offensive.
My Vincent is a Hybrid and I find the combination very pleasing.
All in all ,am very pleased and look forward to hearing them after further breakin.
Will try them on my old Pioneer Reference amp soon which is a solid state Class A legend in my world .
Think we both have an excellent product 👌

Looks like your Vincent will be better of the phono preamps.
If going down the step up transformer route you could sell the MX Vinyl and possibly the Vincent.

Will try the Vincent and report,selling equipment over here is a non starter, so many scam buyers ,simply wouldn't risk it

That certainly seems to have ample gain for your Hana and more than the Vincent.
Try it.
No wonder you have so much kit if you cannot sell it....
Don't you have dealers that will take trade-ins either?
