Hi there,

None of those would be near the top of my list.

What's your budget, and what are you intending to plug into the TV/mostly use it for? (Blu-ray/DVD/standard TV etc; sports, movies etc). Let us know those and we can suggest some options.

I'd seriously suggest you check out Panasonic's latest plasmas, along with Samsung's Full HD 'P' range - easily some great solutions in your budget range there.

Pany PZ85, I have the 42" and it's very very good. Can be had for around £1000 from John Lewis. Ask for a price match with Sound and Vision in Bolton. And you will get the lower price and a free 5 year warranty. £300 less than retail.

SD looks good from a min of 6-7ft away. I sit around 9ft from mine and SD off sky or the tv's tuner look very good. DVD's scaled through PS3 look fantastic, and bluerays look absolutely stunning. The picture looks so life like that you have to touch the screen just to make sure it's not real.

I went for the full hd PZ85 for 1080P games like GT5 and bluerays. Fast motion stuff like Burnout Paradise looks amazing. Very clear and detailed even when your bombing along with the nitrous on.

I'd go for the plasmas (that's models starting with TH) and the Full HD models (they all have a 'Z') - then check the size options (42-, 46- and 50in) to find one that suits your budget. Every set we've tested of the new 2008 range has impressed so far....

I have the Samsung PS-50P96FDX which is the Full 1080p Model and it is a fantastic screen which can be found for under £1200 with extended warrantry easily on Google.

Games form both My 360 and PS3 look the Dogs @1080p, and BluRay on the PS3 looks fantastic and it is displayed @24htz so no screen judder on BD playback. Also IMHO it is a far nicer looking set compared to the Panasonics.

Make sure to turn off IFC and picture overscan on all your inputs. The IFC is mean't for 24fps blueray material only, so can make other sources look a bit weird with it left on. Football for example was far worse with IFC on.

If you can try and use the THX optimiser found on the star wars dvd, and some others as well. Really easy to use and makes a big difference to the quality of the picture. Oh and try BBE VIVA virtual surround mode on the tv. Sounds very good by tv standards
