Hi, My system consisted of a Arcam Alpha 10 Amp & Arcam Alpha 8se CD Player with a pair of Proac studio 125 floorstanders. Due to having to move the HiFi into the back small room 12ftx12ft i have had to sell the Proac's which is a shame as for me the system sounded good(i have never heard really high end stuff so go easy on me). I will now have to get a pair of small bookshelf speakers to go on a pair of shelves i will put up. They will have to able to go close to the wall after doing a bit of research i have come up with these two, Neat Iota and Dali Mentor Menuets i dont need big Bass i like to listen to the likes of soft rock, Accustic, Female singers the like of Emile Sande & Paloma Faith.
So my questions are, will either of these fit the bill i must admit looking at images of them both the Menuets look really nice in Cherry but they are expensive i dont mind paying that much if they sound as good as they look?. The Iota's dont look as nice but if they sound as good Well they are a lot cheaper?. Next will the Arcams be up to the job i was toying with the idea of upgrading them but i dont want to upgrade just for the sake of it. I could try listening to the speakers with a CD/Amp combo in my price range £2000 and then compare the sound to the Arcams.
Could you suggest a CD/Amp combo to try in my price range i have been away from HiFi for quite some time, hence still using the Arcams.
Regards Kev.
