need help!!! multichannel receiver---lcd---speakers--ps3??? whats the best combi under 5000$???

i'm getting a PS3, a sony lcd 40'...and i've heard about the Onkyo TX-SR606...that its the best...and i've also experienced the sony dav IS10... i want an excellent video and audio experience.... I'M A COMPLETE NOVICE... & I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WAT A MULTI CHANNEL RECEIVER DOES...LIKE THE onkyo... and if i go wid the onkyo receiver suggest me a good set of surround speakers below 1000$... or would it be bette if i get a ps3, a sony lcd.... and sony dav IS10.... i'm seriously confused... i would be GAMIN AND WATCHIN MOVIES... AND I WANT TO HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH THE TOTAL BELOW 5000$... PLEASE DO HELP ME OUT... THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE

i suggest to go 42" plasma for gaming you wont be dissapointed panasonic px80 [hd ready-720] ,panasonic pz80 or pz85 [full hd 1080] keep the onkyo and match them with the tannoy mercury custom f1 5.1 speaker package try connecting them with qed hdmi -p leads quite cheap off ebay about 30 quid and as for speaker cable qed design and balance [3£pm] not really sure about the dollars to pounds though so iv just guessed that these combos may be around your price range
