Hi. I have an old system comprising of an arcam alpha 7se cdp, alpha 8r integrated and alpha 8p power amp. I was using this to run b&w 601 s2 speakers. I have recently inherited a pair of atc scm40 floorstanders.while I know my system isnt really good enough for the speakers the atcs make my system sound alot better and I am going to save up and get a new system. im thinking about either Primare cd31 and i30 amp with view to adding a primare power amp or 2 to the integrated later on. Can this be done? Either that or some sort of similarly priced Cyrus system. I know these are great for upgrading via power supplys etc.Which would be the best to partner the atcs?

The other question i have is would it be worth while to get another alpha 8p to triwire the atcs in the mean time.would this give much improvement and be worth the £130 or so i should be able to get one for?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!

ATCs have a reputation for only really thriving on the end of hefty power amps, so I think the 8P triamping route wouldn't be terribly cost-effective.

I'd save up for a while and then audition the Primare you mention, along with some other amps in the same market sector including the Cyrus.
