I'm expecting great things just by following previous little titbits of information you've allow to filter out.

Hope it all comes together well, and sooner rather than much later as it's hard with no equipment at hand.

Cheers will fill in the gaps soon as possible. Ja its kak without something to use but i really needed to rid myself of the hegel due to no fault of the amp.

new Benchmark could be making an appearance. I'm on the edge of my seat! I'd love to spend someone else's money, even virtually, but for real would be better. ;-)

I gathered the Hegel departed with heavy heart but when new toys arrive it will be forgotten but for the best of times you shared together. ;-)

4 contenders so far and the benchmark is one of them. Preamps, dacs, streamers are all in the running. Have you heard of martix x sabre pro? Nice pre-amp/dac. With top spec. Ive also been looking at bryston and emotiva.

I also have a good contact for a hegel h20 preamp but for the money and what it does is a little expensive also.

I dont want to talk speakers until i have them. There are also about 5 or 6 different options. but i really like the benchmark next week will tell and maybe some earphones also.

Hi Andrew,

I just looked up the Matrix X Sabre Pro, wow love the styling first off! Specs I'm sure equally impressive, will look into that properly later.

Your future system is a step or two at least up from mine, so I can only image how good it willl sound once compiled. Read nothing but good things about the Benchmark here and elsewhere. I also like the pro type, no nonsense styling, although it's a case of beauty and the beast compared to the Matrix. That's a stunner, my take on HIFI porn!

I had my heart set on the Mytek Brooklyn and was saving toward it, then I became interested in the Emotiva XSP-1 after reading one of your posts. The Emotiva had everything and more I wanted out of a pre-amp/central core to my system but I was concerned having to order directly from the States.

Anyway, things changed, budget was lowered and I've a nice little Oppo HA-1 and despite having a few initial hiccups it's seriously good (within my system, coupled with my crap speakers) I just need to sort sout ome form of streamer as I'm missing my old Yamaha WXC-50. That was a breeze to use and great little component despite the relatively cheap price. Oh and a headphone upgrade is absolutely essential now, the headphone amp section is superb and most evenings I'm plugged in

I look forward to hearing of any progress regarding the system build.

Just when I think Ive found the pefect solution I get another issue to sort. Well I hope to have some closeure by tomorrow. Oh and I just ordered a custom made pair of Beyerdynamic DT880.

they will be my music for now - I cant wait to have some sound again

Hello again,

Can I ask, custom made in what regard and where are you're getting them from? I follow various Youtube channels where they heavily mod headphones. I'm really looking for a half decent pair as since I got the Oppo I'm loving a bit of late night listening without worrying about volume levels.

Custom made regards cable length, straight or curly, rim colours, leather colour etc.
Regards the sound - no difference so its basically dt880 pro with straight cable.

I've never had quality headphones before so i think they will sound good but friend of mine has ordered a pair of sennheiser hd650s so ill let you know which i think is the best buy. I brought it direct on beyerdynamic website and the product is called DT 880 MANUFAKTUR.

are rather good, even the 600's. Some definitely prefer them to the 700's. Must be honest I've yet to hear any. AKG rule supreme in this house but not for long. Still don't think they're a great match with the Oppo's sound, sound too lean. Just been looking at the Sennheisers, I'm tempted, seem like a good deal but perhaps that's because I've been looking at silly price headphones.

Just seen on another thread you've bagged yourself a Benchmark Dac, is it the newest addition to their ranks?

May I ask why you sold the Schmegel?

He was watching some swedish audiophile Eurobandit reviews of Crosley suitcase turntable killers and came to the conclusion the Hegel is obsolete.
