I am not wishing to be negative and I am more than happy to read these threads. My question is how 'valuable' a photo of a TV screen can ever be? Camera to file to (in my case) a tablet display. Surely any calibration will be sunk deeper than the Pasific Trench?

Glad to hear about benefits of calibration tho.

Take them with the flash off. Make sure the picture is nearly still when you take them.

Yep, the pictures don't look as good as in action, just trying to give people some idea about the quality though.

Monsters University has exceptional picture quality in some scenes - quiet often is the case with 3D films - however I feel in some of the scenes the CG is really amazing even with what seen before - Really outdone themselves !!

Normal mode that looks so fake now, the difference is incredible. So much more natural now. :). I did realise I was getting an oversaturated picture but didn't mind but now I am much more happier. I like having the night mode too, just makes it go even blacker.

Glad you're hapy with the results, Gel!

It perhaps takes a while to fully appreciate the difference. I'm guessing you'd get your next TV calibrated, or pay for a tune-up twelve to eighteen months down the line.

I will definitely be getting my next TV calibrated but as for the tune-up I don't think so. I will see how the picture looks but I don't think so. How much does it cost anyway?

I know Jules charges £100 for a tune-up,* which is usually recommended a year to eighteen months after calibration. Maybe you could negotiate a Norwich City fan-rate again.

The TV will drift a little over time. Nothing serious; and the original calibration will still be worthwhile if you leave things alone. I'd be inclined to get a tune-up done, as it isn't that expensive, and you know that your TV will continue to perform at its best.

* It sounds like I'm working for Jules. For the record, I'm in no way associated with Jules' THX calibration service. I just happen to know his pricing, as he calibrated my TV. (This footnote is for forum mods.)

Never. I have no investment in Norwich City's success, so I'll have to pay the going rate!
