Welcome to the club!

the first movie I grabbed was avatar aswell it was jaw dropping.

was your 3D before calibration all over the place?

I didn't have 3D done, because I don't use it.

This is who I used to get it calibrated. Jules for short and Canary Jules on AVForums.

Aw c'mon each to their own but 3D isn't that bad 🙂 watched the new hobbit on Monday in 3D it was great.the problem with 3D is the badly done 3D titles far outweigh the good

What do you mean by square on? 🙂. And I will do.

not looking down at it from an angle - take it square to the TV from the middle of the screen - showing mostly the TV not your stand or back wall

Ah nice one! I will give it a shot, it will probably be tonight or this afternoon now I am pretty busy today now.

The images are looking seriously good now! :cheer:

How's the picture in terms of image depth, Gel?

Some people need to adjust to calibrated settings. If you're used to watching the "Normal" preset, calibrated settings will look quite different.

As you watch more content, especially films you're familiar with, the gains should become more apparent.

Oh, and congrats!

 mate. I haven't noticed my in terms of depth but on Batman Begins things looked clearer. Yep, I just think I need some more time.

Their looking buff with proper pop to the image - is that with IFC on or off?

Avatar has bad overblown whites on ym screen but I guess thats the camera looking at the other shots

I have just got a bonus from work and are looking to upgrade something in my system, looking at my set-up has anyone got any advice, looking at your pictures Gel I am wondering if a calibration may be my best option.

Hi

I would say it is a great idea. I am really enjoying the results. Jules is also very generous with his pricing.

I think the IFC is set to minimum. Yep, that is just the picture I have taken.

You should turn IFC off with 24p content. It's not adding anything beneficial to the image and is actually complicating things by forcing your TV to do unnecessary guesswork.

I'd argue that IFC should be turned off with all content, though it may offer some advantages when watching 50Hz TV broadcasts.

Those pictures look awesome mate

you should try taking a picture of the same scene in normal thx mode (tv default) and your calibrated mode to see if it shows up better on camera. Obviously this is only good for those of us that don't have a calibrated tv

Welcome to the club Gel. It takes time but when you've got used to it and switch it back to your normal mode, you will see the difference!

The settings are all locked now, so I can't change them.
