Is it the Samsung UE65HU8500? I'm interested in the same TV. How is it? Thoughts on the curve with regards to image distortion and viewing angles?

Its a UA65HU9000... not sure what is the equivalent model in UK.

I am glad that I chose this over the Sony 4K model. This curve design gives a different perspective when it comes to depth of the image. Its even more impressive in 3D.

No sign of image distortion. The image shown above is actually from a HD content on the local satellite service provider. On blu ray... the colour is sooo rich...

The other feature ie motion control and voice control works great too.

I like the new (was going to say flat) screen. Looking forward to seeing your up and coming upgrades.

It does sit well out from the wall at the ends. A nice wee sweetener with the phone as well.

Once you go to 65" there is no going back...IMHO.

Regards

john

TV pictures look excellent! Is the TV calibrated? What camera did you use to take the pictures?

Gel,

Believe it or not... I was only using my Galaxy Note 3 to take the pictures.. and the curve made it look like its bigger than 65 inches..

Have not done the calibration...will have to get around that soon.

Hi all,

I have put up a review on the PMC 23s since Sunday in the hifi section, but till today, the posting have not appeared on the forum eventhough it said that the post was successful.

So, I am putting a link here with the hope to share the review.

Incorporated the Oppo HA-1 into my home cinema system to act as the 'main' DAC for this system. A big step up from feeding the Sony CDP XB930E digitally to the Yamaha AVR.

I cant help but think you would benefit hugely from removing the huge wooden pieces of furniture that sit next to your speakers - either side of them

You are in a quandry with them there - where they are the speaker sound will reflect off the furntiure, Having furniture that size is equivalent of havng them right next to a wall or in a corner. This will mess with your bass as well

If you pull them infront of the furniture then that will be better but its still like having the speaker right in a corner.

Remove the cabinets altogether and I would bet your system will sound much more open with better imaging and stereo image and be much better overall. Just my advice to help you get much more from your investment

Thanks ellisdj...

Thats exactly what I did actually.. pull out the speakers in front of the cabinet... it does give better sound... unfortunately those cabinets were custom made in wall cabinet with a fridge compartment :)... that alone was also an investment hehehe... so quite difficult to convince the mrs to break it down....

Its been awhile since my last update on my set up. My set up has gone through major change and this year seems to be a year that I will most probably just enjoy the system rather than pushing for more.

Current set up as below with the SPL Audio items are the latest addition to the family about 1 month ago.
  1. Kronos Sparta Turntable with ZYX Ultimate Omega cart
  2. Clearaudio Solutions AMG Wood Turntable with Hana SL cart
  3. SONY HAP Z1 ES Hi Res player
  4. ARCAM CDS50 SACD player
  5. SONY MDJA20ES Minidisk player
  6. SPL Audio Phonos RIAA phono amp
  7. SPL Audio Director Mk2 pre amp
  8. SPL Audio Performance S800 power amp
  9. SPL Audio Phonitor 2 headphone amp
  10. Musical Fidelity M1 ViNL phono stage
  11. PMC twenty5 24 speakers
Accessories
  1. TAOC rack
  2. FRANK PB 15000Ws power bank storage
  3. Vermouth Audio 'The Black Pearl' speaker cable
  4. Vermouth Audio Reference interconnects
Headphones
  1. Sennheiser HD800S
  2. Beyerdynamic T1
  3. Audeze EL8
  4. Nuraphones
It was a 20 years journey from a modest Marantz PM57 amp, Marantz CD67OSE paired with TDL RTL3 SE speakers to this current set up. I feel like this is the most I can go for right now with regards to satisfaction. Listen to it almost everyday and I feel that my set up is quite flexible in delivering warm but lively sound regardless of musical genre I play. I play more LP for my serous listening sessions compared to CD. However, on a lazy day where I just want to kick back, its the SONY HAP Z1 ES that will take center stage.

Please ignore the bottom 2 items. Those are the Absolare Phono amp and its power supply under review.
