this is my Cambridge attempt: 740A, 740C, 640T and Pro-Ject III with Monitor Audio RS8s.

the room aint the best size for the gear but its my room and kid free! Yahoo! eventualy this is moving into living room to make home cinema kit with the rest of the speakers for the RS set up... saving hard! will start again for 2 channel to suit the room...

Very smart looking hi-fi rack. CA know how to make neat looking components.

May I suggest that when you move the RS8s to the home cinema setup, try replacing them with some quality mini monitors or standmount speakers. Place them closer to the rack (away from the corners/sidewalls) and with less toe-in to create an intimate near-field listening setup.

Good choice the RS speakers.having heard the rx6 and rx8 they can lack ornanisation on instruments.I surely notice that right away after beggining to listen to them. I find the Rs series much much better.

i know what you mean... found it hard in such a small room to get the right sound field... i think smaller is more and the way to go. the living room is 13ft by 13ft and will sound much better in there... was thinking of the B&W 685s but would they match the CA set up? any suggestions?

Looks very nice indeed

IMO i think that the speakers at either end of the room isnt the best idea; have you tried them either side of the window or more closer together (i.e. 2m either side of the hifi rack)?

I think that the soundstage may be a little too wide spread currently but at the end of the day it's your set-up and your choice how you have the speakers aligned.

With regards to the B&W 685's; yes they'd work and IMO I think they'd do very well indeed (on decent mass loaded stands) but I think the likes of the Monitor Audio RX2's or the EB Acoustic EB1's would do a better job. Even the Dynaudio DM 2/6's or the 2/7's could be a consideration!

hey dan...

think will start and move em about tomorrow to see if makes diff. the Dynaudio look great and would match a room of that size i think

The Dynaudio speakers are very good but they do give off a big sound

Don't rule out the M/A RX2's; they deffo need a demo as they're superb speakers and if you like the M/A sound they'll do very well indeed

Mezzo 2 worked fine with 840v2 and 840c so should be ok for yours. Frontported so easier to put against walls and should be discounted now.

Couldn't agree more ear!

Lovely hifi set-up. Cambridge audio and MA speakers always seem to pair well!
