I have never heard these or even met anyone who has ever heard these so I thought id tap into the wealth of knowledge on here. Are these things any good???

Single bass driver MC4's or dual bass driver MC4's?
They were quite good in their day, but the later range spelled the end of MF speakers. I preferred the previous range (single bass driver) to them, which I thought were a little more punchy, whereas I found the later series to be a little softer and warmer.

It was the dual driver ones I was thinking of. Only are there is a pair on fleabay atm and thought they may be a good partner to my old timer A1...

Mbe a tad on the smooth side for my liking, but that doesn't mean you won't like the pairing. If they're not on for much, it'd be worth giving them a try.
