Can anyone recommend a currently available dvd recorder that is multiregion so plays region 1 and 2 dvds, that can also record previously recorded stuff from a sky+ planner onto its hard disc or dvd+/- etc disc? Due to sky+ log-jams and multi-user arguments!

These machines are now harder to obtain, especially with multi-region capability. I would go for the Panasonic DMR-EZ28, which is available from discount retailers on ebay for about £120. This is easily the keenest price in multi-region form. My one works a treat - its only fault is that it can be a little noisy.

Hi, this Pioneer does the job but it is not cheap.

Amazingly, they had the DVR-LX70D (500gb version) last month for £379

so I scooped one up - don't know if it was a mistake but they honoured the order. I use it for backing up stuff off Sky then edit out the breaks etc and then burn to disc. It works an absolute treat and it is Multi Region for DVD playback. On a personal note it also looks the part within my system - sad I know, but I don't care.

Regards Si.
