multiple sources - simpler question

redux of my earlier more rambling post. let's say I have multiple sources: DVD player, Sky box, Wii, PS3 If I want surround sound setup, I'd go through an a/v receiver right? So, do all the sources plug into the receiver and then a single HDMI from the receiver to the TV? I ask because most receivers seem to only have 2 video source inputs. So, would you then plug your 2 chosen 'surround' sources (e.g. PS3 and DVD) to the receiver and plug the other sources directly to the 'spare' HDMIs on the TV? Please help, this is hurting my brain. ;-)

Simplest way is for all components to connect to the receiver, then one cable from receiver to TV.

If you haven't bought a receiver yet there are plenty out there with more than 2 video inputs, otherwise you could just feed the audio through it and the video direct to the tv.
