Mordaunt Short MS 309i Sub Woofer

I'm hovering over the buy button on the MS 309i subwoofer. the reason i chose this one is that (in addition to the good reviews) i assume it wil fit in well with the other MS speakers i own (906/905/903).

I've read various conflicting reports on how to set it up and the "plug it in and play with the knobs until it sounds right approach" seems to be the one I'm going for.

I don't have (and dont intend buying) a sound pressure meter. Has anyone bought this subwoofer who can tell me how they set theirs up?

I own a 309w subwoofer, and it goes good but can be overdriven.

I recentley bought a pair of MS 908 Declaration speakers and they can go a lot louder. But you need space to really use them.

The MS Declaration 500 THX floorstanders have an active woofer build in, these are the pair I'm going for.
