Mordaunt Short Mezzo 6!----WOOOOW....now just need a matching amplifier!

Just got myself a pair of Mezzo 6 and it takes my breath away! Even with my entry level amplifier it sounds mind boggling. Compared to my 902i's they are leaps and bounds ahead. Havent heard anything like this before. Overall Im loving my system, but cant help feel that it could do better with a price appropriate amplifier....anything you guys recommend around 800 pounds?

That budget for an amp, you can't go wrong with the 840A v2, great synergy with the Mezzo's.

vinod can you tell me how does your CA640 sound? Do you feel it lacks power?

Yes, indeed, the 640 lacks the gut to exctract more from my RS6, big time. Waiting for it to let go soon!

Nooby...I dont know about the 640 but even with my 340 I dont feel it lacks power....the Mezzos are really efficient...give it a try..you'll love them

CA amps generally have excellent synergy with the MS family, so nothing wrong in taking your 640 to the Mezzo dealer and hearing it for yourself.

Thanks all....Glad you are enjoying your upgrade Shafesk.. I am hoping to upgrade speakers and it is always handy to hear users reports...Did you get much brightness from your 340 and if so are the Mezzo's keeping it in check?

Thanks Nooby, I dont think I would call the 340a bright, but yes my old 902i's were a bit bright but the Mezzo 6 and the 340a combo are just perfect....the treble is the creme de la creme. It is just soooooo smooth but dynamic....hear them with ur amp u will love them....guaranteed!

its just me but I prefer the sound of the 640A or 650A to the 850A. the 850A could put more bass but i just think I prefter the6 series sound

Yes I'm missing my 640A at the moment. It is in for repair with the low volume balance problem which has been discussed on the forum.

My Wharf. 9.1's although good for the money, are not doing justice to the 640 and I'm looking forward to finding out how much improvement can be obtained..

I think you can go further with the 640, considered floorstanders? I have made the switch and can honestly tell you they give you a presence and soundstaging that atleast I didnt get from bookshelves. MS and CA synergy is great..might want to consider that when buying speakers
