Monitor Audio RS series speaker with budget amp/dac for compressed mp3s

Is it worth upgrading from BR series (br5) to RS series (rs5) for compressed sources like mp3s on PC hooked up with fairly good budget amp and pretty ok budget dac

I would say yes.
The RS series are not only beautifully finished but are one of the best in class at their price point.
You should love the step up.

I myself have most of my music stored on Hard drives mainly in my
PS3 where I have put a bigger HD into (250gb) and the BDP S359 recorder / tuner. A mixture of CD's transfered and MP3's.
Internet radio also sounds excellent.

The speakers will benefit again by being driven by much better Amps so you should be happy with them for many years.
