I could be getting free gratis an MJ Ref 1 MKII subwoofer. It has been repaired once and as far as I know only the main reservoir capacitors in the main power supply have been replaced. The fault manifested as slow motorboating. A year after repair the fault has returned. I know the present owner and she definately has not been thrashing it, all controls are set at sensible settings. Is this a unique fault or has anybody else come across this form of failure?

Sorted! Even though the "Destructions" say that the unit can bee left in 'Sleep Mode' indefinately that is not the case it seems. As well as the P/S capacitors going feet up there are smaller electrolytics which live next door to a couple of resistors on the board which run somewhat warm... Replacing the electrolytics with some high temperature equivalents and slightly away from the heat source fixes the problem. There is no such failure associated with the Reference 1 MKIII.
