Hi,

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, a quick browse of this forum tells me that you lot are into much more sophisticated stuff...

Anyway, i'm looking to buy a budget micro system (must have an ipod dock, cd player and fm radio) and am a bit stuck for what to go with, knowing virtually nothing about the tech specs etc...

I had a look at this http://www.consumer.philips.com/c/audio-system/dcm276_05/prd/gb/ which looks cool, but could anyone tell me what the sound is likely to be like? I know it won't be very good compared to separates etc... but just for filling a room?

I'm looking to spend £150 max.  So any other recommendations welcome.  Sorry again, if this is the wrong place, just really struggling to find reviews and a mate said to try here!

Thanks in advance,

Chris

If you can stretch a bit more it would be worth it to get the Sony NASE300HD. Despite my professional position I've not been very flattering about Sony's micros for quite some time but this latest GigaJuke model is really rather good. With 80GB hard drive, CD, iPod dock, Sony Walkman dock, DAB radio and USB input it is very well featured and sounds excellent for the money. It is quite a bit above budget though (best price I've sold one for is £250, although you might find it cheaper somewhere on the internet).

For mathewpiano, if you see this. Not wishing to 'poach' this thread, but I wonder what opinion you had about one of the older Sony micro systems. The DHC-MD373. Mine now languishing in the attic together with the TC373 that went with it. I used it for a couple of years and it seemed not a bad unit to me. Did everything I wanted it to at the time anyway. The minidisk functionality was really quite useful. Was it one of Sonys better ones in your opinion? certainly one of their more expensive ones.
