I have a Marantz PM6003 amplifier and was looking to buy as a replacement the new PM6006UK and the CD6006UK. The dealer has also offered a new PM8005 for a similar(ish) figure to the PM6006. I am going to try and arrange to hear them, but was looking for some feedback from anyone with the PM8005 at present.

Best to demo with your speakers and compare. 6003 to 6006 will not be so much of a sonic upgrade compared to 8005.

Agree with BB. The 8005 may be yesterdays amp but it's better than the 6006... entry level vs entry level+, 6006 wil be a sideways step. Personally I've never found Marantz to be bright sonically.

I agree doubt there is much between the 6003 to 6006, try the 8005 should be better. No point in a sideways swop, you should make a step up each upgrade. Also try some others such as Rega, Arcam and Creek 50A if you can. Not heard the 8005 but did try the Pearl Lite. If the 6006 and 8005 are similar price I would go for the 8005, it's a better built and more powerful amp.

Hi, i had the PM6006 on loan for 24 hours, the binding post are cheap and awkward, i wasn't a fan of the clip on top of the amp either, looks cheap, apart from the build quality i found the bass to be a bit tubby. I do have the PM8005 now & the build quality is excellent, the binding post are the best i have ever saw. Regards performance it's a delight & justify's the jump up in price over PM6006.

Quick note the PM8005 doesn't have a built in dac, if the dac is important to you, you could always demo the PM7005 instead
