I have the the Maranzt PM6005 with KEF LS50 and and Isotek Mini Sub power mains purifier and I am quite happy with it. However, I want just a little more power and control with a tad less harshness and the same leves of detail and excitement. I have about £300 to spend and I doubt I"ll get anything that will beat the Marantz at that price. However, would a 2nd hand Arcam A22 be better than it, as I could easily pick one up from ebay 2nd hand. Thoughts would be appreciated!

An Arcam A85 would be an improvement and can be had @around £300 - if you can stretch your budget an FMJ A19 is even better

Not heard the A22 but have the A32. It's a grunty amp. Arcam and Kef usually work well together. The issue you have with either could develop reliability issues, due to their respective ages.

Concur with other poster, the A85 might be a better option, or if you like a warmer sound one of the older Nads should fit the bill nicely.

The LS50 really needs a sub, not the pointless Isotek mains thing but a subwoofer. That will balance the sound nicely. I doubt that swapping amplifiers will do much.
