The Marantz M-CR610 (replacement for the M-CR603) ...

Clicky.

Not enough differences for me to rush out and get one, but it does now have gapless playback of 24/192 FLAC and an additional - rear panel mounted - USB socket.

(Noticed it has a button at the back for wi-fi too.)

Anyway. There it is.

Oh yes, it's £499.

Thanks. I'm predicting the 603 will be around £300, so if the 610 stays at £500 it would mean I'd likely plump for the former. If it dropped to £400 though I'd pay the extra...

Wonder if you can connect a Mac or PC to the the USB socket on the back and have the computer see the amp as an external audio-device, so you can play your computer through the amp's DAC using USB? Seeing that the socket is not a Type B (D-socket), I'd hazard a guess and say 'no'. Still, there's always the optical in, but then not all computers have an optical out as standard.

Doesn't that 'M' (in Melody) belong to Meridian? :)

I think the '510 is the final nail in the coffin for my thoughts of buying a Sonos. 'Tis pretty.

The 510 has positioned itself as a good option for those just wanting streaming. Tunein App and Airplay for any radio neeps too.

What's the price of the 510?

The USB on the back is a small but very welcome addition also.

Although I already own the M-CR603, I am tempted to upgrade to the M-CR610 because of the gapless playback and Spotify integration. I hope there are some internal improvements as well (although the MCR603 sounds great).

One thing I was confused about when comparing the specs to the M-CR510 is for Gapless Playback for the M-CR510 it says FLAC, WAV and for the M-CR610 it just says yes and has DNLA 1.5 in brackets. I assume the latter is a typo, but is it likely that audio streamed from a NAS will be gapless for both models, or would it have to be played from the USB port?
