I have several questions that I really could do with some help on...

It's been suggested to me that I use QED original 79 strand to use with the A10's. Has anyone used this or has any other suggestions?

Also, I need to run a sub cable a distance of approx 12m (is this length ok?). Can anybody recommend where I can buy and what make I should consider?

Because there is very little space in my AV unit I need HDMI cables with right angled plugs, again can anybody recommend where I can buy and what make I should consider?

A lot of questions but if you guys could help it would really be appreciated as I take delivery on Friday

TIA, Dave

Hi Dave

Standard speaker cables between 79 strands or ones with several hundred strands of OFC will be more than good enough for Apex speakers. Fwiw i use these standard speaker cables with Apex speakers as well as PL100, PL200, PL300, PLC150 and PLC350 speakers.

12m is fine and a standard interconnect for the sub should do the job perfectly well. Having said this QED's Performance sub cable is also worth a look for the Apex AW-12.

Iam sorry but i can't think of HDMI cable with right angled plugs.

All the best

Hi Rik ,

I've also been looking at the following all fitted with Airloc Banana plugs.

Chord Carnival Silver Screen

QED XT-C Cable

QED Silver Anniversary XT cable

Do you think its worth paying the extra for these cables and do you think I'd notice a difference in sound quality?

Many thanks once again

Dave

My suggestion is to stay away from QED. It tends to be bright and hard sounding

Id recommend 4 or 6mm Van Damme UP LC-OFC for the speakers and 6mm for the sub

Hi Dave

Your welcome.

I think you should save your money and consider using standard speaker cables. I feel if standard speaker cables are good enough for Monitor Audio's reference Platinum series of speakers then these cables will also easily take Apex speakers in their stride.

Btw, I'll also recommend say some basic heavy duty crimp type speaker plugs (which generally cost very little).

All the best

Standard interconnects are perfectly capable of being used with sub woofers. However if within budget then QED's sub cables have been very consistent over years and also offered VFM. As i feel confident with QED's sub cables i am also happy to recommend them.

Hi Michael,

I notice on the Van Damme cable it say that its 'directional'. Does this mean that it has to be installed facing the same way on each speaker and if so is there a right & wrong direction?

Cheers

Yes the cable is classed as directional, the cable has a series of arrows on one side these arrows need to point in the direction from your amp to your speaker.

Some will say it does not matter, but if you follow this for all your speakers you can be happy that they are all wired the same.
