I allways enjoy looking at others DIY projects as personally I think anyone could take the pro install route but IMHO the results are far more satisfying when you've put your own blood, sweat and tears into it. Can't wait to see the finished results

My DIY project is HERE

Thanks D.J.KRIME

More pictures coming weekend, very nice set up you have there, I agree it is very satifiying doing your own install/set-up and it can be done reasonably cheap if you shop around, I only have limited time when I can carry out the work, but the worst bit is done now.

Anyway roll on weekend, will update then. 8)

Here are a couple more pics of progress

As you can see the back wall has now been covered with Sound sheild plaster board, all timber has also been lined with the sound sheild, speaker boxes now installed, all timbers were drilled screwed and fixed with instant grab adhesive for extra strength and also to fill any foids.

Will have some more pictures soon as last ones did not come out so having to take them again, any questions fire away.

Next step is constructing centre speaker box, insulation and installing speaker cable conduits. Back soon

8) No problems with images either

No experience with in walls so your timber frames are somewhat puzzling. Guess they are giving a false wall into which the speakers are 'sunk'. I guess too that u have researched the best installation techniques to avoid the need for additional bass traps and acoustic treatments. Would haveloved a project like this and thank u for sharing your build.
Cheers

Hello all

Hope all is well this lousy weekend, I have been trying to catch up with work on the install and not long finished today so I thought I would put some more pickys up, I am getting there now so not to long to go, the actual back wall was going going to be plastered but it came out well when puting it up there were only four joints to fill so I preped it myself and it came out Ok so saved some money there, the ceiling will be plastered as thats a bit more complicated, will fit speakers in over the weekend, so will post more pictures then, in the mean time here is the latest ones.

You are getting there! I'm following the evo since you open the thread!

Nice to se the evolution, and even nicer to know that you are building with your own hands!

It adds a different flavour when it will be ended!!!

Very well done!

Evening all

Thought I would update with some more pickys, as you can see the back wall is now complete, came out really good saved on a plasterer, lowered ceiling is good also, fitted down lighters at the weekend, very nice effect, the pctures make them look very bright but they are not, will be comtrolled with a dimmer anyway, back wall finished in matt black this just a base for the paper which is a heavy flock, see link for images, really nice paper, so painting the wall black will not allow any marks or lighter colour to come through.

The link is purely for images, in case anyone asks.

The side panels you can see on each end is slightly recessed back about 2in with an over hang these will conceal LED Rope lights which will iluminate the sides, so hopefully this will look good, never can tell but should be Ok, teh very top of the ceiling is to be finished as you can see, this has been left untill the rear and side speaker cable has been run, so need access to pull them through. The recess for the Tv is for a 55incher so the one there at the moment is my trusted samsung 46 very good tv is has been to, got in 2009 how time flys, anyway here my latest pictures, hope you like. 8)

Thanks for all the kind comments, it has taken a little time but I was not in any rush, its funny when I look back at the work and construction, then the nearly finished result it does not look much, just a wall with 3 holes in and a big one for the Tv. But the thing is it does not have to cost an arm and a leg, it is basically plaster board and timber thats it really, and as stated a little thought and imagination, AND of course some DIY skills would be good, but even if you are not a diy-er, getting some help with your ideas and designs still should not cost the earth, I am lucky my good lady does not worry to much, so just lets me get on with it, I have chosen most of the equipment now just the amp, pioneer will be order of the day just need to pick.

Anyway thanks again for compliments will post more pickys soon 8)

Hey Dont knock it...I am sure you have taken pride and enjoyed what you have done, alot comes down to what some one can actually do in there lounge, be it handy at DIY or more importantly be wife freindly, putting up stud postioning, plaster boarding is not every ones cup of tea, and trying to convince the other half is not easy, at the end of the day as long as you are happy thats all that matters, I have seen other installs and I think like you, WOW mine looks nothing compared to that, but I can only do what I can do and get away with, AND with the budget I have, so enjoy.

Lets see what you have done anyway 8)
