Very Nice...that is the bedroom yes 😳 sorry if I am wrong... very clean lines, nice the way the Tv is showing no cables, and love the film posters, I am a collector of original movie posters, I think posters should be shown more in the home, but most if not all are not wife freindly.Anyway you should be chuffed with your work especailly being the bedroom. 8)

When do you start the lounge... 😉

thanks pioneer iv got some more posters coming and will be puting my stormtrooper helmet in the cove above my sub and still needs a little work.no wires was the most important thing for me as its still a bed room and iv got a wife so shes cracking the wip.cheers again:cheers:

Mornin all

Well I am finally on the last straight, and i have to say I am wll chuffed with how it is turning out.

So what have i been doing..As you can see from the last set of images the wall was black, this llooked good but being a lounge it had to be home freindly it was a little over powering, so choosing wall paper was going to be a task in finding the right style and colour, we went to B&Q and just happend to find the paper you can see, it matched the colour of the walls perfectly, with a nice black pattern so went well with everything, as you can see it looks OK. All the cables are now installed, and have tried to keep everything tidy, trying to do this with cables is a nightmare so spent a little time heat shrinking the ends and keeping the lengths all the same. The surround speakers were a head ache I was going with in ceiling speakers but this would mean more construction and time, just to accomadate speakers so I used the speakers you see now, these were speakers I had some time now and were just boxed, so on inspection I realised that they would be perfect, the shape of the speakers allowed me to fit them close to the ceiling and hug the walls so cosmetically they were ideal, as you can just see I custom made an end panel that fits on the end of the coving which justs butts up to the end of the speaker, this covers the end of the speaker which would have exposed the end and bracket, I just scribed the shape of the speaker and cut it out of 9mm plaster board, the finish came out well. The coving used in the main part of the lounge is cornice coving a swan neck style and just looks nicer than the standard coving. The Tv arrived thursday Panasonic Gt-50-50 in.. and amazingly went straight up on the bracket with out any ajustments I have left enough room aroung the Tv for acces and ventalation, a frame will be fixed aroung the Tv to tidy the gaps up. So there you go not long to go now, left right speakers fitted, just the centre to fit which I pick up thursday, dimmer switch to be wired for the down lighters, LEDs to fit around the edge, and that is pretty much the wall side of things done. Just leaves the floor to lay, then the wall units which will go under the lower edge, these will float off the floor, I will get these from Ikea. Then the hardware Amp Blu-ray player, which will be the best bit.

Anyway thats the latest update, I am painting the ceiling today, and will update next week end..Enjoy 8)

Any questions or advice/guidence I can give just ask, will be happy to help. 8)

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes I could fit a projector and screen, I have the wiring installed for a screen when I did the speaker cables. 6ft would be the ideal size for the room, but that will be another project in the future. 8)

All I can say is wow that is a realy great job you can now sit down and enjoy 🙂

Thanks toyota man..

yes nearly but not quite, picture is very good out the box THX is a nice touch with the options you have cinema day-light etc, just need to lay the floor this weekend solid oak I got for nothing off a job it was over so gave chappy a drink and have enough to do what i need, the rest of the lounge will be carpet, so the oak flooring will be for traffic purposes, back door into garden etc, then the units, THEN the most important peice of all the amp and player, but thinking about it yes I am well pleased with the way it has come out, oh forgot fitting the concealed LEDs this weekend as well, so will post more pickys later. 8)

Mornin all

Its been a while since I did any more work on the lounge tart up, I have managed to do a bit more now, so I am on the final run, just the finishing touches really....As you can see now the centre speaker is all in now, and makes the wall look complete, as we speak a buddy of mine is just finishing the frame for the Tv all this is..is 4in MDF Skirting glued and mitred with bisciuts to hold the corners nice and strong, will put up pictures when fitted. The rear side speakers are all fitted now and found some other covers, when I bougt these there were Blue-Red-Black-White, but when Itried the red ones they looked realy nice and gives a bit of colour.

Also on the rear walll I am just finishing a pelmet which runs along the width of the wall, this is fitted with low voltage 20w down lighters, these will illuminate the pictures which will be hung when finished, as you can see its a mess at the moment so the wiring is just to make sure evrything works Ok before fitting the face panel.

I had some sound/THX/Master Audio/Blu-ray Prints done by a mate, had some frames in the loft, painted them black and thats it, look pretty good. Also a couple of pictures of my pride and joy, an original Darl side of the moon 30th edition release of the CD in 5.1 sound, and some very specail Original photos of AC/DC in concert these pictures are a one off from the very man who took them at hammersmith Odean then... in 1980, Bob Ellis was his name and was regarded as one of the best Rock photographers at that time, and I had the pleasure of spending a day at his studios in london, where he gace me a selection of photos, so there are none of these any where, they are even stamped on the back with his name and company so are original and never been released, you can just amke out the ticket £4.00 WOW £4.00 to see one of the biggest bands in the land, the other picture is autographed, you may not be able to see very well, but any way thought it might be of interest to some.

So thats the latest at the moment, will put some more pictures up when the frame is fitted and pelmet done.

I thank you.

Where did you get the Pioneer and the DTS Master Audio pictures from?

Thanks for the nice comments, the Sound images are printed high quality photo paper/card I had them stored on my PC, got my mate to print them from the site, just save the image, Emailed them and that was it.I found them after trawling through trying to find them, will try and find the LINK for you. 8)

An outstanding project. Enjoyed being a (tiny) part of it. If it sounda half as good as it looks then you will surely be in home cinema heaven soon. Keep us informed.

Looks great and very classy,if i had the right shaped room i would be doing something similar 🙂

Thanks gents, TBH I am really struggling with which amp to go for now, I am sort of set on the Onkyo-616 I think the issues are sorted, and it is a bit of a lottery wheather you get a good one, but thinking it might worth the risk £290 is very good for what you get, Or the pioneer 922 £210 I do like the pioneers but it has been a while owning one now, the last one was the AX-10i in gold very nice to. The size of my room dictates size of and cost of the Amp, other wise getting some thing bigger more money would be over kill, and at the end of the day I have no idea what my set up will sound like, with in-walls it is very difficult to dem, so it will have to be a home trial as well, I am getting close now to having to get the amp so will have to get some thing sorted pretty soon, Richer sounds have both set up in store so will need to pop along. 8)

Did you grab the sub from MS? Some beast! I am willing to spend lots more of yr money on an amp. I would try to demo maybe a Onkyo or Yamaha a bit higher in the range. I would imagine yr speakers, sub and room deserve a decent amp. Please call if u have difficulty spending money.

Please dont mistake my interest or enthusiasm for expertise.or experience. I hope those with solid knowlwdge can advise on amp choice. My only comment would be that in such an excellent room, very adequate speakers and a beastly sub I would hope to hear amps at a different level to compare for max enjoyment. I would also think about room treatment at a later stage maybe where a little money can be of great benefit. Good luck and hopefully experts will chip in too. 🙂
