I am looking for a one stop music set up in my living room to complement my new 55" HD television. I have listened to the Monitor Audio Apex with one of the new Pioneer amps with Airplay functionality and was suitably impressed. £2,400 for the speakers alone though seems quite a stretch... £1,000 more than the TV!

Any suggestions for slightly less expensive options... I see that Richer Sounds have quite a good offer on the Tannoy Arena Highline 500 (£1,200) and the KEF Eggs(£1,000). What Hifi have also reviewed the new Q Acoustics Q7000 well. Any views on how these do when playing music through them?

Any input much appreciated.

Apex and Arcam AVR 400 or 500 fantastic with music. I would look at a different sub for the Apex perhaps BK XXLS 400 as that will save about £500 and IMHO is better with music!

The two 5* products from the WHF test would be a good starting point:

Kef Q300 5.1 (£1880)

MA Silver RX6 AV12 (£2200)

Edit. My own preferred choice of amp for movies and music would be from Arcam - AVR400 or AVR500 (the one on offer, P. Tyson)
