Hi all,

I am limited to stereo speakers only at the moment due to limited space but thinking of puchasing a subwoofer to provide deeper base. When listening to a nomal CD for instance and 'Stereo' on the amp is selected, are the LFE (low frequencies) still outputed via the sub out socket or does the sub out only work in the surround modes.

I have a NAD T761 5.1 Reciever. Good amp but not very sophisticated .

Many thanks for any advice.

I guess I can't provide a definitive answer here as some equipment may vary...

however as a general rule... any amp with a sub 'pre-out' would generally send signal out with any type of audio even on just the 'stereo' setting.

You can probably switch the sub output off or on, and change the frequency of the Low Pass Filter with all but the most basic of equipment.

Hope this helps....

On most receivers you can go into the speaker set-up and decide Centre Yes/No, Subwoofer Yes/No, Surround speakers Yes/No, and leave the processing to sort it all out for you.

On the NAD, you just go into the speaker settings menu, set the front speakers to 'small' and the subwoofer to 'on', and you're done.
