I have narrowed my choice down to 2 plasma screens that I like, are in my budget range and offer the goodies that I feel I require, i.e Full HD, Good Picture Quality, Wifi, able to play HD DIVX, DIVX, etc. thing is I cannot find any reviews on either TV, anyone out there got these or have an opinion on which to go for?

Not seen a review of these two sets, however, have you also looked at the Panasonic P50G20?

Firstly the UK version of the LG tv is the PK790 not the PK760 - the 760 appears to be a European version being sold on the Pixmania website, therefore the Freeview HD is not going to be present on the Euro model.

I have read a review of the 790 and the 590 done by the same website (cnet uk) and they rate the 590 at 9/10 and the 790 at 8/10.

I have not seen a review of the Samsung PS50C550 yet although there are reports from some US customers alleging noticeable buzzing noise on the 2010 Samsung plasma's, something which was also reported on the 2009 models.

The LG 50PK990 just got a 5 star review in WhatHiFi althought admittedly it is £300-400 more than the 760 model that Pixmania are selling (£779) and i am not sure whether it's worth the extra £'s.The cheapest i have seen the PK790 for is £930 (1stAudioVisual). I have seen the 50PK990 online at £1174 delivered. Personally i would buy the official UK models rather than the EU versions.

I am in the position of deciding between LG and Samsung for a 50" plasma myself, i was originally going to go for the Panasonic G20 until i read the reports of blacks turning grey so i went to several stores which had the G10 models displayed and i have to say the blacks looked very washed out and grey, the G20 looked much better but it's not long been out and therefore probably not got to the stage whereas the issue becomes apparent?

If the issue has been fixed on the V series Panasonics then i would most likely go for the V20 when it comes out this month but seems too risky without some kind of assurance from Panasonic as the V20 is circa £1500 online for the 50" model.

Saw the Samsung 50C550 today in Currys and it looked good, unable to tell about the buzzing issue as it's obviously too noisy in a store to be able to tell.

Had a look at the LG PK590 in the same store. Played with the settings on both tv's and felt that the LG was the better tv but not much in it to be honest from my initial view.

I have just bought the LG 50PK750 it,s the same as the pk760, fantastic Tv in every regard, it,s one of the best on the market at thise price point, and yes it beat the samsung on all count,s in term of qaulity and style, the samsung can,t even get close it, if u have to compare the pk750 than u should compare it with something like the samsung serie 7, and even than to my eyes the LG was a winner.

just go and but it you can,t set one foot wrong.

goodluck

I advice you to wait a bit longer .. there are new models coming out but we need more reviews ...as for the buzzing issue that afected some 2009 samsung sets , from the consumer reviews it seems that this problem is now part of the past , there are very few users claiming to hear the buzz (and theres a little percentage that really did not saw or tested the set but still just want to "buzz" sumsung for some reason - maybe beacause samsung is bringing the slimmer the stilish set at affordable price ? ) - if its loud enough for you to hear it than call the technical staff - i already read and keep on reading about new user reviews claimming no buzz in their sets ...

I keep on gadering information about the sets and keep on waiting a little longer to make a conscious better buy ..

Just prematurely purchased online (B4U Direct) an LG 50 PK 760, before thouroughly searching reviews/forums such as this one, and am currently assuming this is a 'european version'??

Am i still expecting a quality TV to be delivered to me, with access to Freeview HD, and a normal 3 pin plug socket??...Or have i made a big error and need a refund??

The Product spec seems very good.

Please help
