In the absence of a more qualified response, have you looked at www.tweaktv.com? They have settings for most makes and models. No need to register or anything, so just ignore those encouragements and select make and model from the drop down lists. Not necessarily perfect in my experience (I needed to up the backlight number for my Samsung, to suit the ambient light levels in our sitting room) bit definitely a good starting point to get the most realistic picture...

Aren't the setting on this website for American models? In some cases (perhaps all) the settings listed would be inappropriate when applied to UK equivalents.

I'd start with the THX optimiser test patterns on certified DVDs as a baseline, then make minor adjustments to suit. If you get a result you like, happy days. You can't go wildly wrong, in any case.

The settings for SD Freeview and HD shouldn't be too different. Perhaps a slight reduction in picture sharpness would be useful for SD broadcast content, to reduce picture noise.

Hi

There are pages on this site with settings I have been meaning to try

http://www.whathifi.com/forum/tvs-and-projectors/lgpk-350

I havent had mine calibrated but have been using settings found at "the other forum" whose letters are the first and 5th to last letter of the alphabet which you could try as an alternative. There are also loads more settings on both sites for the 50pk590 which I understand is the same panel but is more popular and so more tinkering

This set is such a great buy I still cant believe i paid 539 delivered for this 50 inch bad boy

Yeah, calibrated settings and all those things vary too much to be of use on other panels (hence why it's a fairly costly thing to have done and why the courses cost thousands!). People always want to know exact settings but they're rarely of use. What I would suggest for a more general set-up would be:

Picture Mode: Expert 1 or 2 (Both the same)

Aspect Ratio: Just Scan (if you see grey dotted bars at the edge of the screen then just change to "Original"

Energy Saving: Off

Contrast: 75

Brightness: 51

H-Sharpness: 46

V-Sharpness: 36

Colour: 50

Tint: G3

Advanced Settings:

All left as they are except - Colour Temp: Medium. (Don't change the Black Level one even just to see what it does or you'll have to reset the picture and start over due to a bug in the processing that leaves it on High even when switched back).

On an uncalibrated 350 this should put you in the ballpark for a good basic picture with roughly the right balance of levels.
