listening to the radio, normally I don’t like the radio through the hifi preferring the Play 5 but it sounded OK in fact brilliant airy normal radio sounding but much better.

I think that's a trademark of PMC (and other brands with a monitor heritage). Enjoy! Maybe hold back on the Carlsberg though; it can't make a system sound a bit blurry. ;)

That's what it's all about.....glad you got sorted (with some good advice).

Cno, d'you get any commision on this one?

Day 2 and all I can say is wow and wow.

Started looking for speaker stands, listening to the radio, normally I don’t like the radio through the hifi preferring the Play 5 but it sounded OK in fact brilliant airy normal radio sounding but much better.

So I switch back and forward to the Rotel Kef yes the Leema was better but not by as much as I’d hoped.

Went off to pick up the stands, assembled them, put them in place mucked about with various position booming to start with too near rear wall, then......

It just sounded brilliant ( my speaker disapeared) I’ve had Passenger, Joe Bonamassa, Neil Diamond (love him) REM, Muse, Eric Clapton, Artic Monkeys, all in my front room. I heard Dire Straits Sultans of Swing on the radio this morning so I thought I’d give it a whirl I was taken aback it was so fast and tight it shocked me sounded superb

Everthing was so enjoyable pacey fun and god can it go loud, I had goose bumps!! I’m still listening to it know.

Mrs boggit likes new look as well “ I hated those old things”

So after last nights debacle today has been very positive I love the setup so loud controlled and just everything!

Well done Boggit. It takes a while to tweak the speaker position but the wait is worthwhile.

What stands did you end up buying?

It should sound even better over the next week or so as your ears will fully adjust to the new sound.

Good luck

Atacama Nexus 6 same width as the DB1i's they look fantastic together looks like I've got a proper HiFi now to be honest I just wanted some stands to try and sort it so after some research in size and ability cost and in stock I just went and got them. They look good and do the job.

It seems position and the stands were the final icing on the cake. I'm still amazed by the bass, pace (I suppose timing and by that it seems how quick a note stops and starts) and space. All adds upto

You can experiment with mass loading the stands (Kiln-Dried sand / Atabites).......see how it sounds at different levels of filling.

Use 4 small pea-sized balls of Blu-tac between the speaker and stand.

Think the leema is so punchy too, it certainly goes way louder the Rotel used to cut out if you pushed it like I have today.

That said just shows what a fantastic little Amp it was, not to mention the speakers.

(well they will be available on eBay shortly from a smoking, child and cat owning, not to mention the odd ocasional dog visiting house. So got to build there credibility up).

Hi CnoEvil I've filled them 3/4 full with kiln dried sand but to be honest the eurika moment came with out any sand. They also came with rubber gel pads the speakers sit on. Do you think blu-tac would be better? Might also stop them getting knocked off I hope! Cheers

As I mentioned before it'll sound better and better as the weeks progress. You'll play some familiar tracks and you'll think: "I've not heard that before..."

Put on good quality DVDs or cds and you'll notice a 'virtual' surround sound. The quality just pings off the walls. Fabulous.

Do they sound better with the sand in them?

The safety element of Blu-tac is reassuring.....and might even sound a little better (if you're lucky).

I don't have a CD player only a Dennon 1920 DVD player in our main living room I tried a CA 640v2 CD player and could not tell the difference between it and the Sonos maybe I would with this better setup? I just love the fact I can just try new music when I want to.

Not on this one..........was too busy getting my head around your conundrum............which pays better!

Cno, have you ever heard the DB1is? Reason for asking is because you've said many times the Spendor SA-1 are one of your fav small standmounters. IMO, having heard both, the PMCs are pound-for-pound better than the Spendors. Your opinion appreciated.

Sorry PP, I can't help as I haven't heard them.

The Kef LS50s are now my favorite small speakers.

Yep this one's down to you PP it was your passion about the Leema that got me here. Just a lucky coincidence he had the DB1'is.

Edit not to mention your enthusiasum about the DB1i in leema posts

I still like the idea of those IPL speakers, I was going to veneer them in Zebrano with a high gloss finish.

I must admit the one thing that stood out at the Bristol show was the LS50, they sounded good not only in the Kef demo but in several other room that were using them.

Not really. We can only advise on our personal fav combos. You should give yourself a large pat on the back and... ENJOY. ;)

If you get the chance to hear the Dinky Boxes on the end of Naim XS or Leema, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised (nay, staggered) by the sound they produce.

i own both plus the LS50's PP (my other half says I have a problem, but I don't know what he is talking about lol). The DB1is are great and have a lot more bass than the spendors, but there is just something almost magical about the spendors delivery, especially with voices, that makes me prefer the spendors.

The LS50's are better again tho IMO.

I didn't know myself until fairly recently. I suppose the bigger TB2 are Tall Boxes, although can't be sure on that one.
