Does anyone know how good the Leak Delta 30 is/was? I know someone who has one in his loft and he wants to get rid of it! He also has some Leak speakers (Which the model name I'll have to confirm, but they were bought the same time as the amp). If anyone could give some advice on how much I should pay, it would be a great help!

Leak Delta 30 is a classic, and a tweaked version of the revered Leak Stereo 30. These are incredibly musical amplifiers. Value depends completely on condition. Could be as much as £100 for something in full working and excellent visual condition but as little as £30-£40 for one that needs attention.

The speakers are probably of less interest but if they are Leak Sandwhich in good condition and working order they would be well worth a listen. Not sure of value here.

Cheers Matthew, I'll ask the guy next week. He's had it since it was new, and it's been in his loft for a few years because he hasn't had time to use it.

If they are Leak Sandwiches, I bought a pair of them a few months ago for a house party because I didn't want to wreck my speakers! I got them for £20 and had my JVC on the end of them with an ipod - they went LOUD for about two hours, and then went POP!

...I don't think a combination of Prodigy, Pendulum, Freemasons, Kings of Leon, Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim did them any good! Then again, the woofers were ripped and the tweeter was dented, so it was no biggy!

matthewpiano:PS The Delta 30 was made after Rank Organisation purchased the name but it is a Harold Leak design (the Stereo 30+) but with minor revisions. I think you'd like it.

Good, Good! If it doesn't work, it'll be a little project to pass some time anyway!

Thanks!

Try to find a Leak users forum - no offence to anyone on here, but there are some good vintage hifi sites out there who could help. If not a dedicated Forum, check out some of the vintage hifi sites and you'll likely find someone pretty well clued up on Leak.

Here's a link to a page from the London Sound site - read halfway down for some of the Delta info:-

http://www.londonsound.org/leakrepairs.htm

It's not all about repairs incidentally; the guy wriotes a fair bit on his opinions of the kit,. so worth checking out.

Sacrilege young Mr Hughes!! Dented tweeters / woofers or not!!

Those were wonderful, warm sounding speakers - but only rated at about 15 - 25w IIRC..

No wonder you popped them!

They were wonderful and warm AND LOUD when they were coated in Strongbow! LOL!!!

Oh, and my JVC is 100watts, so there lies the other problem!

I think there's a regular turnover of Leak gear on Ebay; some of it's achieved decent money. I tend to zero in on stuff that could be good that's finising at a bad time (in view of aiming to get the best possible price) - got my Technics amp last Sunday afternoon for £50 for instance.
