Leads for a phono pre amp..?

I need some leads to connect a phono pre amp to the amp, budget £30 max

. Would the same reviews for the usual candidates; QED et al apply to the signal from any source whether it is cd or pre amp? Or can I get away with a cheap freebee type lead?

And why are the leads on turntables usually a bit thin looking and not very impressive?

Anyone got any views on this one?

I bought some £24 QED's that do the job nicely at a non annoying cost...
