review after review, blog after blog I have read, and I freely admit I'm totally confused about what my next tv purchase. Good news is that I've narrowed it down to Sony's KDL 46W4500 & Pana's TH46PZ81B. Is there really an SD distress syndrome on the Sony? Does the Pana suffer the same way? Does the Sony have deeper black and brighter white than the Pana? There is now virtually no price difference between the 2 - £1,200'ish - but if you've seen better.... ;-)

Well the Z81 has the advantage of a Freesat tuner for the same price. Or you could get the 50PZ80 (without Freesat but same PQ as the Z81) for around £1150 and 4" bigger.

The only way you can decide which is best for you is to try them both. I know it's the advice that everyone gives, but it really is the only way. Other people can advise for a shortlist, but you pay the money.....
