I realy dont know wich way to go I am looking for a 46" to 50" pannel for gaming (xbox360 & PS3) and for hooking up to a HTPC Visa Media Center all via HDMI.

I have read many mixed reports on the down falls of plasma for gameing with image retenshion & burn issues, some say its bad others netural I cant justify the price jump for a 50" plus lcd so would have to settle for a 46" or less.

I have an insurance settlement via a voucher for Comet & was looking at the SAMSUNG PS50A557 as is currentley reduced.

I should think the Plasma will be fine. I used to have a plasma and played a lot of games on it! If I ever paused the game for any extended period I would simply change the channel to the TV to prevent image retention.

This was a while ago now though. I believe image retention is a lot less of an issue with modern plasmas and they have better technologies to deal with it.

I can only agree with Messiah and will just add that the response rate of a plasma screen is superior to the LCD screen.

Again agree with Messiah andTKratz, plasma has no input lag whatsoever, also plasma is the only way to go above 37" IMO. (am braced for the fallout on that comment LOL).

Screen burn and image retention no probs just be sensible

True Blue: ...plasma has no input lag whatsoever...

There's quite a bit of electronic wizardry going on between your TV's input and the panel itself. I agree that plasma is inherently faster but there is a finite amount of delay caused by the processing of the input signal. No input lag what so ever is stretching the truth a bit

Thanks for the advise all it realy seams that my worries have all been surrounded by the good old "urban myth".I feel a lot beter about going with plasma now.

My only other question is what sort of running in time whould you suggest is 100hrs ok? & do you recomend reduceing contrast during this time?
