Rather staggered at the difference a few metres of Chord carnival silverscreen bi wire has made to the sound of my kit. I was only running thick copper before and I suddenly have an improved weight and width to the music that, over the last hour, has left me open mouthed at how good some of my favourite recordings sound. Its been quite special.

I've no idea whether the fact its biwired has made any difference and I don't really care either - in the context of my set up it might be the best £95 I've spent. I really wasn't expecting it!

Lol. Good news and not unexpected (by me anyway)

Yeah I think you mentioned copper sounding dull on another thread Joel...I understand exactly what you mean now

Mine do in the kitchen. Just waiting to have a couple of spare hours to fit my QED SA XT that's just been replaced in my living room, into my kitchen. It's going to be a fairly tricky job for a number of reasons so I need to get rid of the family (and the cats) for a while.

lordmortlock:Yeah I think you mentioned copper sounding dull on another thread Joel...I understand exactly what you mean now But Chord Carnival SS is copper

,excellent cable though.

But the Chord cable is silver coated, which is what gives it its brightness. Ive ordered some silver plated cable so we'll see if it injects sme more fire into my Spendors (not that they really need it with a Cyrus pulling the train along).

Chord Carnival SS has pure copper conductors not silverplated ones.Chord's Rumor,Epic etc have silver plated copper conductors.

This is correct. Despite the confusing name, Chord reverted to pure uncoated/unplated OFC copper for Carnival Silverscreen.

The predecessor - Chord Carnival Silver - was silver plated copper but Carnival Silverscreen is not.

I wish Chord would rename it. It confuses so many people.

Quote... "Chord has decided to revert to high-purity copper as the cable's
conductor rather than the silver-plated variety of its direct
predecessor."

Quote... "1.8mm diameter multi-strand oxygen free copper conductors"

Seems that all those who have attributed the character of this cable's 'sound' to it's non-existent (except in name) silver are going to have to find some other reason to explain it. Or maybe just accept that cables should not have a 'character' at all unless they are bad cables.

I realised after posting this that the silverSCREEN in the name gives you a clue....d'oh!
