Having played around with mine for a few months with great joy I have found some settings that are better than others. Before I go any further, the following is no substitute for a proper isf calibration but it is, I believe, the best setting I have found in the absence of a pure setting as on the KRP's which I currently use as benchmark on one of my frequent visits to my dealer. I made contact with an owner that had his calibrated and whilst he could'nt give me precise settings (the calibration goes into hidden menues not accessible to users) he did mention his surprise about most colour adjustments going up higher rather than compensating by decreasing some though the adjustment range in those hidden menues are apparently different from user accessible ones. I have also found that most adjustable settings other than movie do odd things with gamma hence make any adjustment I can make as user without special equipment, look unnatural and sometimes over-peaky or, on the other hand, low contrast in dark areas.
The following are my (still crude) attempts at getting an even better picture without calibration software. These are in power mode 2 for dimmed light viewing or no power save for daytime viewing.
Movie
Contrast 32 Brightness -1 Colour 0 Sharpness -2
All Noise reduction turned off, all detail adjustments to Off, Colour space 2, Gamma 2
Colour setting Manual
R High +8 G High +4 Blue High +5
R Low +3 G Low +1 Blue Low +2
Like I said, this is vaguely based on the info that the ISF calibration has added colours rather than decreased them. I will buy either some soft/hardware such as spyder or eye one, or have an ISF service carried out soon and post more detail but need to get a new laptop first unfortunately. I found the picture has more punch, brightness without oversaturating colours.
Meanwhile, try the above out if you have'nt done a professional calibration yet and find the picture lacking something. Perhaps leave some feedback for others. Have fun.
